..od začátku play off se týmy potýkaly s technickými a zdravotními problémy, které provázeli boj o titul nejedného hráče. Až na několik kontumací si týmy vedli docela dobře a odehrálo se plno serií. Calgery Flames proplulo do finále hladce a po serii neprohraných zápasů ve čtvrfinále se San Jose Sharks, v semifinále s Carolinou Huricanes se pod vedením manažera Revenanta dostali plameňáci až do     finále o titul.
